There’s nothing better about this Greencastle Wedding than knowing it was the fairytale dream wedding of two high school sweethearts. Arianna and Addison planned their wedding for summer of 2020 (which has officially become the most difficult year for wedding planning in the history of ever) after getting engaged in Chicago back in the winter. Their dreams of a fairytale wedding came together on the property of a family member, down in the woods in the most gorgeous outdoor ceremony space you could imagine. Everything came together, despite the ongoing pandemic, and the day was moving along as planned… until we headed to the ceremony site.
As we drove over to the property, the skies darkened, the winds picked up, and the rains poured down in solid walls. As I later found out, a tornado was sighted (maybe even touched down?! It was all a whirlwind) not 15 minutes from where we were all waiting it out… in a white tent our in a field. More than anything, this sweet couple wanted to get married in the woods – under the trees, surrounded by green and family and friends, and amongst the twinkle lights. And that’s something that even a little (okay, big) storm can’t stop. With a slightly delayed start time and a slow drizzle raining down, their guests made the walk down to the woods through puddles of mud and sat amongst the dripping greens in the dark woods for their perfectly romantic, intimate ceremony. It was everything they could have wanted and more – the quiet of the rain on the trees only added to the magic of their surroundings.
I’d actually met these two a couple of year’s prior at Arianna’s brother’s wedding. Their adoration for one another had immediately stood out to me then, and seeing them come together as husband and wife only left me in awe. Their relationship is a strong one – their connection to one another is easily apparent, and their compassion towards those around them will wrap you in warmth. It’s always a pleasure to be around this family, but this time was extra special for a variety of reasons. The day was filled to the brim with emotions and a bit of a bittersweet end for me as Arianna is the last of of her siblings to be married.
To Arianna and Addison, thank you for inviting me to be a part of this magic with you. I’ve enjoyed every bit of these last few months spent with you. I wish you all (and Chip and Bruno!) the best as you all finish out the year as a new family. Congratulations again!
