This Geist Reservoir family session marks my first-ever family session out on a boat on the water and I’m ready for the next one already. Who wouldn’t want to spend the evening out on the water!? Years ago, I did shoot a wedding party out on a boat on the water as we traveled from their ceremony site to their reception location, but shooting an entire session out on the water was a bit different, especially because our lighting was coming and going like crazy!
You may remember this family from their fall session. I have to admit, I was so excited to be able to get little Marina out for her 10-month milestone session in warmer temps. It was so frigid during our fall session! This was only Marina’s second time out on the boat. Seeing her curiosity and bravery at exploring the boat and surroundings was adorable. Her name couldn’t be more fitting as this girl clearly belongs on the water.
Of course, I’m always up for going out on a boat at sunset, but the sentiment behind this session is what makes this one so special. Natalie and Bryan have lived at the reservoir for 8 years and at the end of the summer will be relocating back to Georgia, where Natalie is from. This session was meant to mark not only Marina’s milestones of growth, but the end of an era for them as a family. To the McLean family, I’m so glad to have been able to capture these for you as I know they document many memories and moments for you, as well as paint the picture of the beginning of Marina’s life! Enjoy your last summer on the water and best of luck with your move!
