Amanda and Josh’s Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Wedding was such a treat for me for so many different reasons. Being from Michigan, it’s always nice to head back home to shoot where it all started for me. This time around, getting a chance to go into downtown Detroit was a blast from the past. I haven’t been there in several years (since this wedding!) and I found I was smiling to myself as I drove down the all-too-familiar streets. I’ve lived in many places, and each of them has been a home to me over the years. There’s just something about that feeling that never fades.
What made the whole experience even sweeter was getting to work with A Moment in Time and Jen House Design again! Jen and Kendall are phenomenal. How did I ever got so lucky to work with them!? To be able to continue to connect with them every once in a while is just a dream! Amanda and Josh celebrated their marriage at Ste. Anne de Detroit and toasted each other at the historic Ford Piquette Avenue Plant. Despite the freezing temperatures, winter storm warnings, and frigid rain, everything felt warm and cozy and just…. well, perfect.
The real treat, though, was working with Amanda and Josh. You may remember our time together at Plymouth Orchards this past fall. I learn a lot about my clients through the process of working together – from the initial intake form, to the engagement shoot and the questionnaire, to the vows and toasts. As their day played out last month, I learned a little bit more about them and just how well they compliment each other. One of the best parts about photographing weddings is piecing together a couple’s story as you hear friends and family share bits and pieces of it throughout the day. You can see it clearly, and their guests confirmed it, they just go together like coffee and donuts. 😉
Josh and Amanda, congratulations on your celebrations, your marriage, and this next part of your journey together!
