It’s been a couple of years since I’ve seen this family and things have changed a bit. Originally, Dawn thought that we would recreate Zach’s one-year session for Sloane’s first birthday session. We were planning a cake smash, balloons, and some family photos at their home. So when Dawn’s idea started to evolve and she mentioned a hot air balloon basket and possibly shooting at Newfields, I was both excited and a bit sad. I loved Zach’s first birthday session – it’s been a favorite session of mine for years, now, but I also loved the idea of creating something new for Sloane. And then Dawn pulled the hot air balloon basket out of the car and I fell in love all over again.
Unfortunately for us, though, we had the most unreliable weather forecast (in the history of ever) for our session. Not only was it unbearably hot and humid, but a storm (that was nowhere on the radar prior to its arrival) moved in so quickly we were sent running to the cars mid cake-smash. Running didn’t matter, though. We were all soaked to the bone by the time we got there… just as it stopped raining. 😂 Poor Sloane, she had just gotten a taste of icing for the first time and we were all sent running.
Lucky for her, though, that just means we get to shoot it again… and she gets another cake. Two cakes to celebrate your first birthday?! SOLD! Now just keep your fingers crossed this break in the heat sticks around long enough for us to get the rest of our session in. These four deserve a nice, cool evening after our adventures at Newfields!
