I thought fall was just a bit behind here in Indianapolis because of our long summer and mid-80’s October temperatures, but it turns out it’s a bit behind in a lot of places. I was surprised to find that this year’s fall sessions in Michigan didn’t fall within peak leaf season. As I scooped out several locations on my way into town, my go-to spot on the south side of Saline had the best color to it. Of course, it’s a spot that never disappoints any time of year, and I think it’s the long grasses that make it what it is. And sunrise is always where it’s at on this side of the park!
If you remember this family’s session from last fall, they were still a family of three… with number four on the way. Fischer made his arrival earlier this year and big brother Preston couldn’t be more sweet with him. Just wait until you see him snuggling into to keep warm! Side note, I just looked back at their session from last year and it’s mind boggling to see how much Preston has grown in a year. Plus, while we did have awesome lighting (though seriously cold) for this year’s session, I’m a bit bummed we didn’t get any windy-haired Lindsay portraits. Maybe next year I need to bring along an industrial fan and recreate the moments from the past few years.
My favorite, though, is little Fischer contentedly sucking his thumb on Lindsay’s shoulder. I don’t know if it’s the pure innocence or the winter hat, but neither will last for long and there’s just something about the image that tugs on my heart. Life with two boys sure looks good on these guys. See you all at Christmas!
