Katie and Andrew had an idea for their fall engagement photos, and I have to admit I was a bit anxious about it at first. You see, they told me they wanted to bring their bikes to their session. First thoughts and feelings? Overjoyed, tears of happiness, pure elation. SO MANY THINGS we can do with bikes. It will be MAGIC! But then the rational part of my brain kicked in and I remembered there are many types of bikes and not all bikes are adorable, fun colored cruiser bikes… and that most people who are actually avid bikers don’t own those types of bikes, anyways. The bikes I was picturing in my head as props for a couples session vanished. So when I asked them what type of bikes they were bringing and they told me mountain bikes, I started to hunt for some inspiration online.
I turned up empty handed. Aside from some dirt bike couple photos, or shots of couples full-speed racing down mountains on bikes, I found nothing outside of the cruiser-bike-dream-land for inspiration for our bike shoot. And suddenly, I realized this was it. This was my chance to pioneer a path for mountain bike engagement photos! Who was to say we couldn’t do fun or romantic things with mountain bikes?! And we did. And it was soooo much more magical than I could’ve imagined and cruiser bikes officially have nothing on us.
Of course, we also traipsed through fields where Katie decided Mumford & Sons album covers must be made, danced in the wind out on the water, and they snuggled up barefoot on the beach amongst the most gorgeous fall colors yet. The whole evening was absolutely perfect and I’m so excited for them to see the full collection!
