If you saw my Instagram post from a couple of days ago, then you may already know that I didn’t actually shoot this Dull’s Tree Farm session… and that’s a first for me. Sure, I’ve shot sessions and weddings for other people before, but I’ve never had to rely on others to help me out before and never have I ever been more grateful for the community that is a part of this field.
You see, just over 24 hours before Paige and Alex’s session, I tested positive for COVID. They were the last session on my calendar for the ‘fall’ (let’s just pretend that late-November was still part of fall for this year, even if we were shooting at Dull’s Tree Farm) and I wanted to get them in. Rescheduling meant moving their session into December, rescheduling our permit, and hair and makeup for Paige. Lucky for me, my regular second shooter for weddings, who happens to be a friend and knows the inner-workings of my mind (and my business) was able to step in and meet these two at Dull’s for their session. It all went off without a hitch, and though I was sad not to be able to meet these two and capture their session for them, this was best for everyone.
The real kicker, though, is that we were supposed to meet back in August. Alex severed his achilles tendon right before that session and we had to reschedule. We opted for late-November in hopes that he’d be out of the boot (he was) and have a bit more mobility so he could keep up with Chip.
Endless thanks to Jaclyn, for stepping in for me, and to Paige and Alex, for being so flexible and understanding. Happy holidays to you and I hope to meet you in the future!
