It’s hard to believe my Michigan sessions were already three weeks ago – I blame it on never ending fall editing. Wrapping up editing on this family makes it feel like I just saw them a couple of days ago. I always love going back to Michigan in the fall for family sessions. Michigan has absolutely gorgeous seasons (though I can’t say I love the cloudiness of Michigan winters after experiencing the sunny-skied winters out west) and fall is when the state seems to show off most. Of course, the late-changing leaves this year will have you thinking I’m all kinds of crazy, but we still had perfect weather and temperatures, little pops of color, and a whole lot of catching up to do.
Most of the families I shoot in Michigan are people I’ve known for a long time, but that’s not to say I don’t welcome newcomers, too. In this case, I’ve known these two since high school, and Lacey even longer. She was one of my first friends after moving to Michigan and I’m always eager to see her and catch up… especially now that we’re both boy moms and our littlest ones are only a month apart.
This year I drove out to Dexter Huron Metropark for their Dexter family session. It’s one of the first parks we ever photographed their session at, but we were able to explore an entirely new area on the backside of the park and it was perfect. Connor got glasses this year and basically belongs in a kids’ fashion magazine now (see Lacey for all your toddler boy styling needs… and baby boy styling needs, too) and Beckett is as cute as they come. I mean, check those little baby ankle rolls. Thanks for letting me play with your family for an evening, Lacey and Andrew!
