Kayla and Henry saved the date for 6.6.2020… and then COVID-19 happened. As we waited things out, Indianapolis slowly shut down and they realized their plans would have to change, but there was a bit of magic in it all. You see, we shot their engagement session at Coxhall Gardens, where they planned to have their big ceremony. We shot most of their session in front of a willow tree in the park that they (and I!) love, as they wistfully talked of how they wished they could have their ceremony in front of that very tree. It’s picturesque. It’s an absolutely gorgeous tree with a romantic air all about it. But their guest numbers for their planned celebrations would be too high to fit everyone in such a tight space.

So as Indianapolis started to slowly reopen, and Kayla and Henry had to change their plans, and their guest list, their COVID-19 elopement fell into place… all in front of the willow tree. Kayla has done almost all of the planning and prepping for their celebrations entirely on her own – and she’s absolutely nailed it. She’s perfectly organized, with an artistic vision, a knack for details and design, and a flare for hosting. They’ll still get to see their original plans come to life later this summer, but in the meantime, Kayla and Henry pulled together the most intimate and romantic ceremony, right in front of the willow tree.

To top it all off, they set out socially-distanced blankets for each couple and family to sit on during the ceremony, each set up with a carefully styled and prepared charcuterie boards, complete with wine made by the father of the groom, cookies made by a family friend, and glassware and cutlery stamped with their initials and wedding date. And all of it was coronavirus-friendly. They said their vows under the tree on a gorgeous June afternoon, toasted each other and their guests, and celebrated in true 2020 style.
