Back in July we shot the first half of this lifestyle session but were rained out in a sudden (and very unexpected) downpour… right at the start of our cake smash. No worries, I heard the kids still got to eat the slightly-rained-on cake once they got home and dried off. So it was naturally in the cards that our second attempt would also have iffy weather, haha. We rescheduled to the next morning and had the most beautiful weather, lighting, you name it, to finish up our time together. Every year I think about offering more sunrise time slots, and I’m thinking next year might be the right time to do so. It can be a much easier time to shoot with little ones, and is guaranteed to be cooler and less humid during those summer months.

This Central Park Carmel family session it part two of a lifestyle celebration for the littlest member of this family, but we really had a chance to celebrate everyone throughout our times together. Both of the kids had birthdays in July (our first sessions was on her actual birthday!) and the second half of our session was scheduled on Dawn and Chris’s anniversary. We pushed to the next morning, but it was the perfect start to the day for them as they were headed out to dinner later that evening in celebration of the two of them.

We snuck in all of our missing pieces from the first half of our session – parent shots, family photos, shots of just the kids, and then wrapped it all up with the long awaited cake smash… shared with big brother and all!
