It’s engagement season (part I – part II comes again in the fall) and this Indianapolis Canal Walk engagement session was the kickoff for me. These two will be eloping next month and who says you can’t have an engagement session for an elopement?! The more portraits, the better! Dominique and Scott make their elopement engagement session look warm and cozy, but in reality it was absolutely freezing with whipping winds. Even now, looking back on these photos from a couple of weeks ago, it’s easy to forget just how frigid it was because it seems as though summer has officially moved in with zero warning and spring (what’s that?) is gone.
These two drove down from Purdue and spent the evening with me along the canal. They’re both PhD students up in Lafayette and aren’t familiar with the area, so I’m even more excited to show them around Newfields in just a couple of weeks.
I’ve been shooting weddings for a while now, but it’s only been a few years since I started shooting more and more elopements and with each one, they grow on me even more. Of course, the sentiment is already there, having eloped ourselves, but there’s just something so personal about being there when a couple and their family (or sometimes just the couple) promises the rest of their lives to one another. I’ll always love weddings for the grand romance of it all, but the intimacy of an elopement just can’t be matched.
And whichever you choose, engagement sessions are always a grand ol’ time. You bring yourselves, I’ll bring the shenanigans. See you two in a couple of weeks!
