Summer has been the busiest season yet this wild ride of a year. Usually, my busiest wedding seasons are spring and fall – most couples try to avoid the intense heat and humidity that comes with our midwest summers, but the year of COVID threw a wrench into those plans and summer turned into the hottest (pun intended) time for 2020 weddings.
My heart has dropped each time one of my couples’ plans have been affected by the current pandemic- each of them making sacrifices and changes to their wedding dreams… many of them planning for over a year only to have things halted at the last moment. Paige and Brian’s Broadmoor County Club Wedding was the most heart-wrenching of all the COVID weddings thus far. Originally planned for April, their guest list was cut, their venue changed, and their timeline was revised as the end of March drew near. And then, less than 2 weeks before their wedding date, the Indiana stay at home order went into effect and everything was shut down – wedding industry included.
I cannot imagine all of the feelings and motions they have gone through this year, but with every cloud comes a silver lining. And so, in July, we celebrated them both, with most of their original dreams (and teams!) in place. It was absolutely gorgeous outside (albeit quite steamy), we had plenty of summer foliage instead of the not-quite-alive-yet early spring scenery we had planned for, and Paige and Brian got to celebrate one another in front of their family and friends, masks and all. While maybe not on their original wedding date, it was perfect.
Congratulations to Paige and Brian, and may the rest of 2020 bring you nothing but relaxation and joy. Three cheers to finally becoming Mr. and Mrs.!
