Project Ten | Adventure, as promised! A tiny bit more than a day late, but oh-so-worth-it. I knew I wanted to save this shoot for our trip home to Michigan this month, but as I got to the airport last Tuesday night my mind dried up into a creative drought. I thought airport, travel, adventure… nope. I thought reception, marriage, life journey, adventure…. nope.
And then I saw Nicole on Thursday and it all made sense.
You see, if you’ve been following me since the beginning, you will know that she is my muse for the original ‘Photo Adventure’ that started me on this journey. If you haven’t been following, you can check out some throwback posts here, here, or here. Always up for anything – sliding horizontally into cement tubes, shimmying into abandoned paper mills or barns, Ford Lake bridges in a terribly frigid snowstorm, or climbing silos in a cold rain – she never turned me down.
So naturally, having not seen one another in over three years, we were long overdue. This trip home has been short on time to see everyone and do anything, but living on opposite sides of the country and only being ‘home’ at the same time for the first time in over 4 years, there was no excuse under the sun that could have prevented this from happening.
We set out with my general guidelines of ‘dress clothes in a natural environment… an impromptu adventure’, but what’s happening in these photos isn’t as prevalent without the back story. These photos, themselves, define what a photo adventure is to me. Nowadays, my husband is always happy to oblige, but nothing will ever replace my original subject, model, and absolute favorite friend in the world.
Big hugs. Move closer to me soon, please. <3
And so, as promised, a (few) day(s) late, but not a dollar short, my take on Adventure!.
