This is the first wedding I’m sharing that I didn’t shoot. Yes, you read that right. I didn’t shoot this Black Iris wedding, but I did still edit it! Such a strange thing for me, especially after getting to know Leah and Brad so well throughout their engagement session and our various meetings, phone and video calls over the last year (and then some). Lucky for me, my associate shooter, Jaclyn, knows the ins-and-outs of my business as if it were her own, and while I’m lucky to call her a peer, I’m most fortunate to have her as my friend.
If you’re not a part of my annual newsletter than you may have missed the news that our family was growing this year. We welcomed our newest little one just a week before Leah and Brad’s wedding and I am now out on leave for the busiest photographer season of the year, meaning I had to call in a little extra help. Thankfully, my couples were all gracious and supportive, welcomed Jaclyn with open arms, and everything has gone off without a hitch.
I will admit, though, I was very sad to miss this wedding. I’ve been wanting to shoot at Black Iris again since this wedding and Leah and Brad and I just clicked so well, right from the get-go. It has been fun, though, to live their celebrations through the photos. I was even able to guess the song that opened their dance floor for the evening, just by pictures, and I bet you will be able to, too. Some of my other favorite moments include Brad’s secret handshake with Leah’s dad as he handed her off at the end of the aisle, the maid-of-honor and best man entrance (best I’ve seen to date), and Leah’s grandfather’s dance with all of his daughters and granddaughters (and his wife!).
