Kate and Andrew are a pair I’ve gotten to know really well over the last year. Between their at-home engagement shoot that we snuck in right before COVID quarantine hit here in Indy and then wedding planning during a pandemic, I had a chance to get to know them on a deeper level… and I’m not mad about it. Silver linings, you see? I’ve said it all year long and still stand by it. Always look for those silver linings.
Kate and Andrew celebrated their Biltwell Dock & Deck wedding by merging the cultures from both sides of their family. This was my second time photographing a Chinese tea ceremony and it’s such a beautiful tradition. As their family and friends watched on, they served tea to their parents in a blending of their families. We had a chance to take family and couple portraits in both of Kate’s dresses, and while their guests relaxed out on the deck, we snuck in a quick trip to get ice cream at their favorite Fountain Square stop, Square Scoop! Kate and Andrew wove personal details into their day that ranged from including Dragonfruit, their cat, in their wedding attire planning to reading letters from one another in a private moment before the ceremony, from celebrating the recent Mid-Autumn Festival with Chinese Mooncakes to Pokémon GO cake toppers. I knew from the beginning that they wanted their celebrations to be representative of who they are as a couple and it all came together in one perfect celebration of them… complete with tiny hands and all. 😉
To Kate and Andrew, thank you a million times over for allowing me to be a part of your day and your celebrations. I have adored every moment of getting to know you all over this wild year, and am so happy for both of you. And as Kate pointed out to me, this blog couldn’t come at a more perfect time… happy one month anniversary!!
