It was just. a year ago that I was up in Michigan for this sweet little guy’s newborn session. And when I say ‘just’, that’s exactly what it feels like. And despite having seen him grow up over social media for the last year, I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that he’s one now. Maybe I can blame it on the pandemic, maybe I can blame it on just being a parent and always wishing time would slow down for our little ones, but either way, I’m still in shock as I type this.
I’ve known Angelica and Aaron for a while now and while I was editing their Ann Arbor family session in celebration of Sebastian turning one, I realized just how many times I’ve been able to celebrate them over the years. It’s always a joy to be able to document a couple and then watch them grow their family and it’s not lost on me how much of an honor it is that they’ve chosen me so many times over the years… and I don’t even live in the same state! Truthfully, though, I’m just completely distracted as I write this because all I can see below my text is Sebastian’s sweet face snuggled into his momma’s shoulder in the space below this expanding paragraph. It’s easily one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken. I nearly missed the moment, too, because it was just as I was getting set up and testing the light… he just laid his head right there, watching me, and lucky for me, my settings were already ballpark dialed in before I pulled my camera out (something I always do when prepping for a session) and I managed to grab this moment.
Of course, little did I know he would have no shortage of snuggles to give to either Angelica or Aaron during our time together. His facial expressions are priceless, he gives the best baby kisses, and he LOVES his daddy’s hair. Happy birthday, Sebastian. Thanks for rallying the morning after your birthday party to snuggle these people who love you more than anything!
