Every year, I take several trips up to Michigan for family sessions. These sessions typically fall early-spring, early-summer, late summer, and the most magical time of the year… fall. I’ve been doing this now for several years and am so grateful to be able to make this a part of my business schedule each year. And until my family moves out of southeast Michigan, I will continue to don the hat of Ann Arbor family photographer several times a year. Bring able to go back to where I grew up and visit with friends I’ve had for over a decade now is one of the most gratifying parts of being my own boss. I love documenting all families, but being able to capture these people that I’ve known before they were ever even a family (or even before they were married) is the absolute sweetest part of this thing I call a job.
Lindsay and Brad’s family sessions had me excited to be a boy mom long before Wesley was ever even born, and the joy I get out of photographing them together has only grown since Fischer joined the bunch as Preston’s little brother. Seeing them at this current stage and age has been one of my favorite sessions with them (although I do miss having Wymmsy and Sula join us). Preston is a natural entertainer and Fischer is here for all of it, wanting to be just like big bro.
While our leaves here in Indy dropped fairly early this year, Michigan really showed up for peak season (and for this session). We may have had some cloudy (and at the end, rainy) weather for our session, but I’ll never turn down a cloudy fall session… the colors always pop! My favorite park to shoot at was really showing off and we took full advantage, shooting every little nook and cranny of the space that I love. Thanks for having me, Michigan friends!
