It seems like only a couple of months ago that I was up in Michigan for this family’s newborn session, so it’s a bit hard for me to believe that not I’m sharing Lila’s 9 month milestone session. These guys spent the evening frolicking in the park, swatting mosquitos, and loving on one another. I have families that are my favorites to shoot. These families are always those that I’ve had the chance to grow with over the years. I’ve gotten to know them, know their kids, know what they like in their images and in a session. And this family is among that list of favorites.

Of course, two and three year olds are also among my favorite to photograph. I find their spunky personalities highly entertaining and get a kick out of their exploratory behavior patterns. Sessions with kiddos this age often include a lot of frames that make it look like there’s one less child in the family than there is. They love to test their limits, be chased, run and hide, and play, but they always come back screeching in delight. I love this in-and-out nature that is so natural to the age and development and am even more adoring of families who understand this and just let it be in their session. I shoot for the moments and part of having a toddler is capturing these memories of who they were at this point in time. Jenny is a creative herself, and Luke a teacher, so they both understand and our session was smooth and seamless, albeit hot and humid, because of this.

Jenny and Luke, you are both wonderful and are doing a fantastic job of raising these two, sweet girls. Your family is beautiful and I cannot say thank you enough for letting me join you for these milestones as Harper and Lila continue to grow.
